- The Most Requested VS Code Feature: Finally! I was surprised to find this in my VS Code Insiders build. I can’t remember how many times I’ve drug a tab out to attempt to open it in a new window. But now, it’s here!
- Career Mistakes to Avoid as a Developer: This is a great post for developers, new and old, on FreeCodeCamp. They’re all solid, but number three is a must IMHO.
- The Government is Watching your Phone Notifications?: I’m going to file this one in the “yeah, did anyone think this wasn’t happening?” column. Apparently, Google and Apple have admitted that governments have access to push notifications sent to your devices.
- Astro 4.0 is out!: With a new dev toolbar (I tried it. It’s pretty nice. Especially for testing accessibility.), internationalization routing, new view transition APIs and better logging.
- Monitoring Laravel Performance: With Pulse, Laravel devs have a new way to monitor the performance of their apps. A quick look makes me think this isn’t a replacement for tools like Telescope but provides additional data to help you build apps better.
- Google Fakes its new AI Demo?!: Google announced their ChatGPT competitor Gemini AI recently and showed off its capabilities. Except it didn’t. The demo given uses a model that isn’t available to the public. However, it does look promising.
- The Password Game: This could be the best web-based game I’ve ever played. Just went I think I’ve mastered it, I’m thrown another maddening challenge. Thanks to Jack in our Discord for sharing.
- How the Nintendo Zapper Worked in Slow Motion: I remember when Nintendo released Duck Hunt and the Zapper. It felt like magic to point at the screen to shoot ducks. Now the Slow Mo Guys on YouTube show how it worked and it’s just brilliant.
